VimpelCom Posts Loss In Q3, Revenue Slumps

(RTTNews) - VimpelCom Ltd. (VIP), a provider of telecommunications services, Friday said its third-quarter attributable loss was $1 billion or $0.57 per basic share, compared to profit of $105 million or $0.06 per basic share last year.

The latest results included exceptional items of $1.196 billion, principally a $900 million provision in connection with the investigations by the SEC, DOJ and OM relating to business in Uzbekistan.

Total operating revenues fell 31 percent to $2.442 billion from $3.544 billion in the previous year. On an organic basis, revenue grew 2 percent.

Further, the company said its Supervisory Board has authorized the payment of a dividend of US 3.5 cents per American Depositary Share.

The record date for the dividends has been set for November 23, and the dividend will be paid by December 7.
