TTPCom Licenses Insignia's Open Management Client to Deliver Advanced Device Management; Insignia's Open Management Client Available with TTPCom's AJAR Applications Platform

    Business Editors/Technology Writers

FREMONT, Calif. & CAMBRIDGE, England--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 11, 2005--Insignia (Nasdaq:INSG) and TTPCom today announced that TTPCom has licensed Insignia's Open Management Client (OMC), a standards-based device management client. TTPCom will offer Insignia's OMC, an OMA-compliant device management solution for mobile phones, with its AJAR mobile applications platform to support parameter setting and provisioning for WAP, GPRS, MMS and SMS settings.
TTPCom's AJAR enables a single applications investment for low-end to high-end multimedia phones by combining a comprehensive applications framework, a toolset for the development and testing of applications and user interfaces and a complete suite of applications. It delivers a reduction in development costs and faster times to market and enables handset manufacturers to quickly deliver handsets tailored to specific carrier requirements. Increasingly, those requirements include Open Mobile Alliance "OMA" Device Management-compliant solutions such as Insignia's OMC. These solutions enable a host of new capabilities including firmware updates over-the-air (FOTA), advanced data services configuration OTA, and remote device interrogation. Combined, these services lower support costs, improve subscriber care and enable a broad range of powerful new management capabilities for data services designed to increase carrier data revenue opportunities.
"TTPCom partners with technology leaders to help handset manufacturers meet the increasingly complex market requirements for fully featured mobile devices which can be brought to market quickly. We looked very closely at potential providers and selected Insignia's OMC as the most complete standards-based mobile device management client available. We are pleased to be working with Insignia to fulfill the new market demand for advanced management features," said Morten Iversen, Director of Partnership Programmes at TTPCom.
"Carriers now recognize the benefits of next generation mobile device management technologies. Consequently, requirements for new mobile devices to support these standards are flowing back to the handset vendors. TTPCom plays a critical role in the food chain, having shipped over 40 million devices last year. We are pleased to be supporting TTPCom to address the increasing demand for this type of technology and believe that we can drive real value for the market by continuing to collaborate through joint innovation," said Priyen Doshi, VP of Product Marketing at Insignia Solutions.
