TSX Up At Open Friday
(RTTNews) - Bay Street stocks moved up at open Friday amid buying in commodities, with the S&P/TSX Composite Index adding 67.75 points or 0.50 percent to 13,697.16.
The Global Gold Index rose over 2 percent amid steady bullion prices. In the gold space, Alamos Gold (AGI.TO) jumped nearly 4 percent, while Royal Gold (RGL.TO) and Goldcorp. (G.TO) up over 2 percent each.
Among base-metals stocks, Teck Resources (TCK_B.TO) and First Quantum Minerals (FM.TO) moved up around 2 percent each.
In the oil patch, Suncor Energy (SU.TO) and Canadian Natural Resources (CNQ.TO) added around 2 percent each.
Engineering and construction group SNC-Lavalin (SNC.TO) edged up 0.10 percent after it said it, through its subsidiary, Itansuca Proyectos de Ingeniería S.A.S., received $87 million consulting services contract by Ecopetrol S.A. for oil transportation and logistics in Colombia.
