TSX Up At Open Friday
(RTTNews) - Toronto stocks moved up at open Friday amid marginal buying across a variety of sectors, with the S&P/TSX Composite Index adding 30.76 points or 0.23 percent to 13,462.14.
Among gold stocks, Goldcorp. (G.TO) and Barrick Gold (ABX.TO) edged up around 0.50 percent each, while Agnico-Eagle Mines (AEM.TO) slipping 0.25 percent.
In the oil patch, Niko Resources (NKO.TO) dived nearly 20 percent after reporting second quarter net loss of $149 million.
Suncor Energy (SU.TO) and Canadian Natural Resources (CNQ.TO) edged up around 0.50 percent each
Base metals mining firm Mercator Minerals (ML.TO) lost 14 percent after reporting a sharply wider third quarter loss
Private equity company Onex Corp. (OCX.TO) edged up 0.20 percent after reporting a surge in third-quarter net income.
