TSX Down At Open Thursday

(RTTNews) - Toronto stocks moved down at open Thursday amid weak commodities, with the S&P/TSX Composite Index losing 46.69 points or 0.35 percent to 13,408.64.

The Global Gold Index was down over 3 percent, with Royal Gold (RGL.TO), Seabridge Gold (SEA.TO), Agnico-Eagle Mines (AEM.TO) and Goldcorp. (G.TO) losing around 4 percent each.

The Diversified Materials Index lost about 0.50 percent, with Teck Resources (TCK_B.TO) shedding nearly 3 percent, while First Quantum Minerals (FM.TO) adding close to 2 percent.

In the oil patch, Suncor Energy (SU.TO) edged up 0.40 percent after reporting third quarter operating earnings of C$1.426 billion or C$0.95 per common share up from C$1.292 billion or C$0.84 per common share in the prior year. Analysts expected the company to report earnings of C$0.87 per share for the quarter.
