(RTTNews) - Trimble Navigation Ltd. (TRMB) Thursday reported third-quarter net income attributable to the company of $54.5 million, up from $53.4 million in the comparable quarter last year. Earnings per share for the latest third quarter was $0.21, same as last year.

Adjusted net income for the quarter improved to $101.92 million or $0.39 per share, from $86.8 million or $0.34 per share in the prior year quarter. On average, 13 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.36 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Revenues for the quarter grew to $556.50 million from $504.76 million last year, while twelve analysts estimated revenues of $559.07 million for the quarter.

For the fourth quarter, Trimble expects earnings of $0.17 to $0.21 per share, adjusted earnings of $0.35 to $0.39 per share and revenue between $560 million and $580 million. Analysts currently estimate earnings of $0.35 per share and revenues of $564.37 million for the quarter.
