Swiss Stocks Stay Near 6-Year Highs
(RTTNews) - Swiss stocks pushed slightly higher Monday along with other European markets, helped by some rare upbeat euro zone economic data.
Euro zone investor confidence rose for the first time since July.
Survey figures from the think-tank Sentix showed the investor sentiment index rose to -11.9 in November from a 17-month low of -13.7 score seen in October.
The Swiss Market Index rose 0.57 to 8,867.53, nearing its best levels in six years.
UBS shares rose 0.73 percent despite talk of big fines from European regulators over alleged misconduct at its precious metals trading desk.
Novartis said it would reveal phase III data for AIN457 (secukinumab) in psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis at ACR 2014. Shares rose 0.8 percent.
Thurgauer KB said chief executive Peter Hinder was leaving the bank and would be succeeded by Heinz Huber with immediate effect. Shares were flat.
Valora said it was acquiring small retailer Naville for 90 million francs. Valora added 7.5 percent.
