Solectron Opens Design and Engineering Services Center in Timisoara, Romania to Serve OEMs Worldwide

Solectron Corporation (NYSE:SLR), a leading provider ofelectronics manufacturing and integrated supply chain services, todayannounced the establishment of a Design and Engineering ServicesCenter in Timisoara. The expansion of these capabilities in theTimisoara facility, Solectron's largest plant in Europe, will focus onproviding advanced collaborative design and engineering services toSolectron's customers worldwide. Core capabilities will includeelectrical and mechanical design, advanced process technology, leadingedge test development and failure analysis.

"With the addition of the Design and Engineering Services Center,Solectron Timisoara is now a full-service manufacturing center inEurope," said Dave Purvis, executive vice president and chieftechnical officer, Solectron. "Furthermore, this investmentunderscores our commitment to the region by offering new services thatexpand our capabilities and enables us to deliver significant addedvalue to our customers."

Solectron's collaborative design and engineering is also winningover customers.

"We're seeing a definite increase in customer demand forSolectron's unique collaborative approach to product design andengineering," added Purvis. "The Timisoara Design and EngineeringServices Center is another example of how Solectron is helping OEMs toreduce costs, improve quality and increase time-to-market."

Creating a competitive design execution center in Europe is a coreelement of the company's global design and engineering strategy, andMike Cannon, president and CEO of Solectron, together with othersenior management representatives, attended the opening of the newDesign and Engineering Services Center.
