Snap-on Q2 Profit Rises, Tops Estimates - Quick Facts
(RTTNews) - Snap-on Inc. (SNA), a provider of industrial goods, Thursday reported higher earnings for the second-quarter . Sales were up by 8.2 percent. The company 's earnings rose to $106.1 million, or $1.80 per share, from $88.4 million, or $1.50 per share, a year ago. On average, 4 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings per share of $1.68 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.
Quarterly sales rose by 8.2 percent to $826.5 million from $764.1 million last year. Organic sales increased 6.6 percent excluding, $10.5 million of acquisition-related sales and $1.4 million of favorable foreign currency translation. Analysts estimated revenues of $810.06 million for the quarter. Operating earnings before financial services grew to $138.1 million from $117.8 million last year.
Looking ahead, Snap-on expects capital expenditures in 2014 to be in a range of $75 million - $80 million.
