Sierra Wireless Announces New Appointments to Senior Management Team

    VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 11, 2005--Sierra Wireless, Inc. (NASDAQ:SWIR)(TSX:SW) is pleased to announce two new appointments to its senior management team. Dan Schieler has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales responsible for global sales, distribution, and pre-sales technical support functions. In addition, Trent Punnett joins Sierra Wireless as Vice President, Marketing. Mr. Punnett will be responsible for Sierra Wireless' global marketing initiatives, including strategic marketing, product management and corporate marketing and communications.

    Before his promotion to his new assignment, Mr. Schieler was Vice President, Sales, Americas and Worldwide OEM for Sierra Wireless. Prior to joining Sierra Wireless he was Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing for AirPrime, responsible for driving AirPrime's sales strategy and managing an international sales team.

    Mr. Punnett joins Sierra Wireless from Motorola, where he held senior positions in marketing, business development, and sales over a period of 14 years. During his career at Motorola, Mr. Punnett worked with wireless data, cellular infrastructure, voice over IP, WiFi, broadband cable and DSL technologies. He has significant experience in international markets and with major wireless and wireline telecommunications customers. Previous to Motorola, Mr. Punnett was involved in the management consulting and commercial banking industries. Mr. Punnett holds a Master of Science, Business Administration and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia and is a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers.
