SEC Chairman Cox to Keynote USC Marshall Corporate Governance Summit
U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman Christopher Cox
will be keynote speaker at the Corporate Governance Summit, hosted by
the USC Marshall School of Business in Los Angeles on March 22 and 23 in
partnership with Resources Global Professionals, a multinational
professional services firm.
"It’s vital that
prominent educational institutions such as USC Marshall regularly
examine and question the many, often complex roles of business in
society,” said USC Marshall Dean Thomas W.
Gilligan. "That’s
what this summit is all about. Such gatherings provide a crucial
opportunity to convene regulators, business leaders, academics and
others to think and talk about issues of governance, transparency and
responsibility.” "Establishing excellent corporate governance
practices while continuing to grow and prosper is a challenge for all
businesses,” said Donald Murray, Chairman and
CEO of Resources Global Professionals. "We are
pleased to partner with USC Marshall to help leaders and directors learn
more about how best to address this challenge.”
Chairman Cox will speak at 11 a.m. (Pacific Time) on March 23, followed
by a networking lunch, both of which are open to members of the media.
Most summit sessions are open only to registered event attendees. The
summit will be held on the main Los Angeles campus of the University of
Southern California in the Davidson Conference center.
Other speakers include Sidney Harman, chairman of Harman International
Industries, Inc.; SEC Deputy Chief Accountant Zoe-Vonna Palmrose, who is
a former USC Marshall professor; Eric Pillmore, Tyco Industries senior
vice president; Chris Mitchell of the National Association of Corporate
Directors; and Tom Christopoul, President of Somerset Shore Associates,
Inc. and a Resources board member. For information on speakers,
