Sarantel Ships Its One-Millionth Antenna

Sarantel, a leading innovator in the design and manufacture ofminiature antennas for portable communications devices, announcestoday that it has just shipped its one-millionth antenna since thecompany began manufacturing in 2002. The GeoHelix-SMP GPS antenna wentto customer Globalsat Technology Corporation of Taiwan.

Since its IPO, Sarantel has invested heavily in capacity to meetits customers' growing demand. The market for small, portable, andhandheld GPS products has exploded in recent years. ABI Researchrecently reported a 5-year compound growth rate for Sarantel'saddressed markets in excess of 40% per year. Sarantel has seen muchstronger growth in demand as it builds market share and revolutionisesconsumer GPS products.

Sarantel's high-performance GPS antennas are manufactured inWellingborough with precision equipment custom designed by its ownmanufacturing team led by COO, Bill Taylor. 'Our business has grownmore than 400% in the past year, and as a result we had to completelyfocus on keeping our operation ahead of the game. We have a great teamthat is constantly challenging themselves to find new ways to increasethroughput and improve the quality of product we ship. I'm very proudof them,' said Taylor.

Company founder and CTO Oliver Leisten commented: 'We started witha vision that wireless was going to be ubiquitous, and that consumerswould demand smaller devices that still perform well. While this sounds pretty basic, conventional GPS antennas havetremendous difficulty performing well in small products, particularlythose held by a person or that employ multiple radios. Sarantel'sPowerHelix(TM) antenna technology specifically addresses the problemsof these types of products, and with the shipment of the millionthantenna, Sarantel has proven its ability to manufacture its uniqueproducts in high volume.
