Roche, Stiritz to Join Federated Board of Directors

Roche and Stiritz were directors of The May Department StoresCompany at the time of May's merger with Federated in August 2005.Stiritz's term as a director of Federated begins today; Roche's termbegins February 23, 2006. Both will stand for re-election atFederated's 2006 Annual Meeting of Shareholders.

Roche, 58, joined the May Company board in 2003. She is also adirector of Anheuser-Busch Companies, Inc., SBC Communications, Inc.,and Tupperware Corporation. Stiritz, 71, joined the May board in 1983and is also a director of Energizer, Ralcorp, Ball Corporation, andVail Resorts, Inc. In addition, he has previously served as a directorof Angelica Corporation, Boatmen's Bancshares, Inc., General AmericanLife Insurance Company, and S.C. Johnson & Son, Inc.
