NTT-ME Expands Network Backbone with Juniper Networks T-Series; Japane
Business Editors/High-Tech Editors
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 9, 2005--Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:JNPR) today announced that NTT-ME Corporation (NTT-ME), a strategic subsidiary of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation, has expanded its network backbone with Juniper Networks T-series core routing platforms. NTT-ME originally deployed Juniper Networks M-series routers in February 2003, and based on this success is now further expanding with the T-series to support increased network traffic demand and ensure future scalability.
"Our corporate mission is to provide a complete business connectivity solution with our 'XePhion' brand of integrated advanced IP communications solutions, which is one of the top ten in Japan in terms of traffic volume," said Toshiaki Imai, Executive Manager, "Internet Solution" Service Department, Business Headquarters XePhion, NTT-ME. "To support growing demand for XePhion with maximum availability and minimal overhead, we decided on the Juniper Networks solution because it provides high capacity routing in an easy-to-manage platform.
"The T-series is also the only industry proven choice for this scale of high-end routing, and secure and assured connectivity for our customers is essential to our business," said Imai. "The T640 further ensures our investment protection with its ability to scale to multi-terabit capability, should we need that option in the future."
The Juniper Networks T-series has been shipping since April 2002, and is the industry's most proven core routing platform, deployed in over 75 production networks worldwide. The T-series leverages the feature rich, highly stable and resilient JUNOS operating system, which has been operating for over six years in production networks worldwide.
With the multi-chassis TX Matrix technology, the T-series allows service providers to scale to multi-terabit rates without the risks associated with new and unproven technologies. The T-series also leverages modular interfaces, enabling NTT-ME to smoothly scale and expand its network without replacing entire routing units. This industry-leading flexibility and scalability has given NTT-ME the confidence to plan on the T640s operating in their network for at least seven years.
"The ability of service providers to meet the demands of customers by providing advanced network services with assured reliability at scale, is a cornerstone of the future of business and a tenet of the Infranet vision," said Masanori Osuga, vice president of Japan for Juniper Networks. "We are pleased that NTT-ME has chosen to rely on Juniper Networks for such a critical component of its successful communications infrastructure."
