Northern Tier Energy Reports Operational Issue with Crude Unit

RIDGEFIELD, Conn., Sept. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Northern Tier Energy LP (NYSE: NTI), a Delaware limited partnership ("Northern Tier Energy" or the "Partnership").  Ridgefield, CT.  

Today at approximately 11:30 am Central Time, our St. Paul Park, MN refinery experienced a fire in one of its crude units that originated at a reduced crude pump.  The fire was brought under control and completely extinguished by 2:16 pm Central Time by the refinery's Emergency Response Team and the St. Paul Park and Newport Fire Departments.  The refinery has begun to investigate the cause of the fire and is assessing the damage.  The Company anticipates providing an update after more information has been gathered.

All personnel have been accounted for and no injuries have been reported.  The refinery has notified all applicable federal, state, city and county agencies.
