New Richmond families will enjoy improved community spaces for a better quality of life
More than $350,000 in funding from the Government of Canada will support two sports and community projects
NEW RICHMOND, QC, Nov. 13, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
New Richmond families will enjoy safer play spaces for their children and improved facilities for physical activity and socializing thanks to a $350,199 financial contribution by the Government of Canada. The funding was announced today by the Honourable Diane Lebouthillier, Member of Parliament for Gaspésie–Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine and Minister of National Revenue, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED.
The funding will support two community infrastructure projects. The project by the Town of New Richmond consists in major interior and exterior renovations and expansion of the Centre communautaire Adrien-Gauvreau, which will make the community centre safer and more attractive and functional. CED's financial contribution to this project is $240,561.
CED also invested $109,638 in a project by the Club de soccer de New Richmond, which consisted in improving the quality of two soccer fields, thus ensuring their sustainability and contributing to the vitality of the community. Landscaping, drainage and seeding work was carried out, and fences were built around the soccer fields.
The non-repayable financial contributions have been granted through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP150), a $300 million fund that was established to celebrate Canada's 150th anniversary through investments in community spaces that bring Canadians together.
