ROCKVILLE, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 6, 2005--Manugistics Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:MANU), a leading global provider of synchronized supply chain and revenue management solutions, today announced it has appointed Peter Shearer as Director of Solution Consulting. As an expert in the development, implementation and delivery of information technology systems for the transportation sector, Shearer will focus on enhancing Manugistics' market-leading Revenue Management solutions.
Shearer brings more than two decades of travel and transportation experience to Manugistics, with particular expertise in delivering sophisticated revenue management solutions and tools that have delivered significant business value to customers. During his career, he has worked with train operators and rail systems throughout Europe, North America and Asia providing revenue management and yield management systems. He will report to Manugistics Vice President of Revenue Management Operations Andy Archer.
"I look forward to applying my knowledge of the fast-paced and dynamic transportation industry to help deliver and support the best-of-breed revenue management solutions provided to Manugistics clients," said Shearer. Shearer began his career at British Rail Business Systems where he led the design and development of various projects that included the enhancement of Seat Assignment and Sleeper Berth packages, which vastly improved customer service for rail passengers while modernizing the industry and increasing revenues for rail companies.
"Changes in the way airlines, railroads and cargo operators manage capacity and book and sell their products have fundamentally transformed these businesses," said Archer. "Peter's exceptional knowledge and experience in all aspects of the transportation industry is a great addition to our Revenue Management team, which continues to fuel our dedication to demand and pricing excellence.
