L-3 Communications Awarded $385 Million Ground Multi-Band Terminal Contract
Each GMT satellite communications system is contained in transitcases and is capable of repeated tactical deployments worldwide. Thesystems are designed to operate in the Department of Defense(DoD)/Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) X-band and Ka-bandmodes, as well as with commercial C-band and Ku-band satellites. GMTsare also required to be compatible with existing tactical satellitecommunications (SATCOM) terminals.
The production of these cornerstone systems will be performed atL-3 NSN's Hauppauge, NY facility, which has developed other DoDtactical SATCOM terminals, such as the FTSAT-AN/USC-60A,QDHT-AN/TSC-161 and QHSAT-AN/TSC-168. All GMT production is scheduledto be completed by March 2011.
