InventHelp Inventor Develops an Enhanced Shot Bolt (SDB-1278)
PITTSBURGH, Dec. 4, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- "I desired a means to keep the aesthetic features on my rifle legal and not sacrifice the functionality," said an inventor from San Diego, Calif. "This inspired me to develop a better bolt catch that would be a compromise between gun-control groups and law-abiding citizens."
He developed the Single Shot Bolt Catch, which would prohibit the bolt of the rifle from moving forward and returning to a firing position. This would leave the chamber unloaded, requiring the operator to manually load the next round into the chamber by releasing the bolt. This invention could reclassify AR-platform rifles from "assault weapons" to rifles similar to bolt actions. The change would place the AR platform in both modern sporting and hunting.
