Heartland Express Q3 EPS Rises, Meets View

(RTTNews) - Heartland Express, Inc. (HTLD) Wednesday announced an increase in third quarter net income to $15.87 million from $12.43 million in the prior year. Earnings per share rose to $0.19 from $0.14 last year.

On average, 15 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings per share of $0.19 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.

Revenue for the quarter declined to $130.64 million from $135.01 million in the previous year, while analysts were looking for $133.94 million

The company noted that improvements in rates were more than offset by new government regulations on hours of service which began July 1, 2013. Fuel surcharge revenues were $26.7 million, down from $27.1 million last year.
