Hated Cable Companies Overbill Customers
(RTTNews) - Charter Communications, and its recently acquired subsidiary Time Warner Cable, have been regularly overcharging its consumers to a tune of $7.2 million per year, according to a report from the U.S. Senate's Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.
According to the report, Time Warner Cable over-billed customers in the US an estimated $639,948 between January and April 2016, which indicates to a total of $1,919,844 in a year. Meanwhile, Charter has over-billed customers by at least $442,691 per month, which projects a yearly overcharge of around $5,312,292.
The combined overcharging by Charter and Time Warner Cable would be $7.2 million.
The cable operators "made no effort to trace equipment overcharges to their origin unless customers specifically asked them to and did not provide notice or refunds to customers," the report says.
The report also detailed cable company executives from Charter, Time Warner Cable, Comcast, AT&T-owned DirecTV, and Dish on customer service and billing problems
Cable and internet service providers are the most hated industry when it comes to customer service. However, lately both the industries have been striving to improve their service.
