Google Reportedly To Sell Wireless Service Through Sprint And T-Mobile

(RTTNews) - Internet search engine Google Inc. (GOOG, GOOGL) wants to sell wireless service through Sprint and T-Mobile, The Information reported Wednesday.

The company is said to be preparing plans to sell mobile plans that will run on the cellular networks of these two carriers.

Google will pay Sprint and T-Mobile for access to their networks. The project is codenamed "Nova" and is not expected to launch this year. The initiative is being led by Google executive Nick Fox.

The move shows Google's increasing penchant to be involved in the telecommunications industry as a partner as well as a competitor.

GOOG closed up 2.2 percent on Wednesday at $518.04, and GOOGL rose 2.1 percent to $520.39.
