Genesee & Wyoming Cuts Q4 EPS View, Nov. Traffic Up

(RTTNews) - Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (GWR) Friday lowered its earnings expectations for the fourth quarter, citing weaker-than-expected shipments, and said its traffic for the month of November rose more than 49 percent.

For the fourth quarter, G&W said it now expects its consolidated earnings per share to be about $0.10 below its prior guidance of $0.90-$0.95, forecast earlier on October 30. On average, 15 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters currently expect earnings per share of $0.94 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

For November, G&W's traffic grew 49.1 percent to 239,558 carloads, but same-railroad traffic slid 13.9 percent to 138,348 carloads.
