Futures Pointing To Choppy Trading On Wall Street

(RTTNews) - Stocks may show a lack of direction in early trading on Monday after trending higher over the past several sessions. The major index futures are currently mixed, as the Dow futures are down by 39 points but the Nasdaq futures are up by 1.5 points.

Uncertainty about the near-term outlook for the markets may lead to choppy trading on Wall Street, as traders question whether stocks can sustain their recent uptrend.

The recent strength in the markets has lifted the Dow and the S&P to new record closing highs, while the Nasdaq has reached its best levels since early 2000.

Traders also continue to digest last Friday's news about Greece, which reached a deal with eurozone creditors to extend its bailout agreement for four months.

A statement from the Eurogroup said the extension will give negotiators time to work out a possible follow-up arrangement.

The deal calls for Greek and European officials to agree to a series of reforms by the end of April, with Greece due to present a first list of reform measures today.

Additionally, trepidation ahead of Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen's testimony before the House and Senate may keep some traders on the sidelines.

Traders are likely to closely watch Yellen's remarks for hints about when the central bank plans to begin raising interest rates.
