Fresh Del Monte Reports Q4 Comparable EPS Of $0.20 - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc. (FDP) reported a fourth-quarter net loss to company of $0.4 million or $0.01 per share, compared to a loss of $143.9 million or $2.56 per share, prior year. Comparable earnings per share were $0.20 in the fourth quarter of 2014, compared with comparable net loss per share of $0.29 in the fourth quarter of 2013.

Comparable operating income for the fourth quarter of 2014 was $15.3 million, compared to a comparable operating loss of $14.2 million in the fourth quarter of 2013. The company said the increase in operating income was the result of lower asset impairment and other charges, and higher gross profit. Gross profit was $62.7 million, compared to $32.9 million, last year.

Net sales increased to $929.3 million from $879.9 million, prior year. The company said the increase in net sales was due to increased selling prices in the company's other fresh produce business segment and increased selling prices and higher sales volume in its banana business segment.
