Freescale Semiconductor Announces Additions To Its RF Heating Portfolio

(RTTNews) - Freescale Semiconductor (FSL) Sunday announced additions to its RF heating portfolio: two new cost-effective, solid-state RF power transistor products and an application development ecosystem.

The additions are engineered to enable consumer and commercial microwave oven appliance Original Equipment Manufacturers to create differentiated solutions and novel product types for a new cooking paradigm.

Solid-state RF power technology delivers highly efficient and controllable RF energy without performance degradation over time. This provides customers with a longer lasting and economically feasible alternative to legacy magnetron-based microwave systems.

Separately, the firm introduced a versatile and reliable Internet of Things or IoT gateway reference design.

This supports a broad array of IoT applications including building/home management, smart cities, networked industrial services and other applications where performance and reliability are critical.

The production-ready reference design, named the LS1021A IoT gateway, is engineered to shorten design cycles and speed time to market for OEMs.

Additionally, its versatility allows IoT service providers to replace multiple boxes with a single, low-cost unified appliance.
