FOX News Channel Appoints John Roberts Chief White House Correspondent

(RTTNews) - FOX News Channel (FNC) has named John Roberts chief White House correspondent, announced Jay Wallace, Executive Vice President of News for the network. In this new position, Roberts will relocate to Washington, DC and will be responsible for covering the White House, specifically the president's domestic and international activities. He will begin his new role on Inauguration Day 2017.

In making the announcement, Wallace said, "John's 30 years of experience and reputable journalism skills were showcased throughout his coverage from the campaign trail during the 2016 election season. We are proud to welcome him to the Washington bureau and look forward to him leading the network's coverage of incoming President-elect Donald Trump."

Roberts, who joined FNC in 2011, previously served as FNC's senior national correspondent based in Atlanta, GA. He has covered every presidential election since 1996 and, most recently, during the 2016 election cycle, he reported on the Republican presidential primary and eventually President-elect Donald Trump's presidential campaign. Throughout Roberts' tenure at FNC, he has provided coverage of numerous breaking news and political events, including the 2012 and 2016 presidential debates, the 2012 and 2016 Democratic and Republican National Conventions, midterm elections, the murder trial of real estate heir Robert Durst, the U.S. Ebola outbreak, the 2013 EF5 tornado in Moore, OK and the aftermath of Hurricane Irene in 2011.
