SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 7, 2005--
Ford's Use of Enterprise Licensing Platform Saves Money and Increases Productivity to Maximize the Value of its Software Assets
Macrovision Corporation (Nasdaq:MVSN) today announced that Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) has renewed its agreement to use Macrovision's enterprise license management solutions to track and monitor license usage and help maximize the value of its software. Ford has used Macrovision's FLEXnet(TM) solutions to manage its license servers and generate usage reports on various software applications since 1999.
FLEXnet helps Ford better understand how software is being utilized throughout the organization, discontinue use of under-utilized software, and control its software assets from a single desktop. By standardizing on Macrovision solutions within its IT infrastructure, Ford is able to ultimately make smarter, long-term software purchasing decisions, and save substantial amounts of money on an annual basis.
"Ford's decision to rely on Macrovision solutions showcases the value of our market leading products in helping companies manage their software licenses efficiently," said Ralph Lentz, vice president of sales, Macrovision's Software Technologies Group. "As the pressure on IT organizations to reduce costs and improve ROI increases, and software pricing and licensing models become more complex and unique, our partnership with Ford underscores the tremendous value derived by large enterprises which standardize on Macrovision solutions."
Macrovision has built the FLEXnet universal licensing system to help enterprises simplify software administration and management, better plan future software purchases and maximize the value of their software. Today, Macrovision's software management products are in use by more than 800 enterprises, including Boeing, Caterpillar, Eastman Kodak, Exxon Mobil, IBM, Lehman Brothers, Motorola, NASA, Northrup Grumman and Shell.
