Fiat Chrysler Recalling Jeep Wrangler
(RTTNews) - Fiat Chrysler has recalled about 182 thousand Jeep Wrangler sports utility vehicles worldwide due to air bag complaints. The company said it will notify the customers regarding the recall details.
The defect was found in June 16, 2015 to August 14, 2016 model Jeep Wranglers during crash tests at the company. According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration the front impact sensor wiring may be pulled until it detaches before a signal can be received by the Occupant Restraint Controller.
Earlier in February, after an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Fiat Chrysler had recalled cars due to desiccant issue in airbags.
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has notified that prolonged exposure to humidity and high temperature has caused the desiccant to degrade and resulting in inflator rupture.
Fiat Chrysler has not yet provided a notification schedule for Jeep Wrangler, as remedy is still under development. It also said the issue has not caused any injuries.
Shares of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. is trading up 0.80 percent at New York Stock Exchange.
