Early Signs Mixed, Potash Disappoints -- Canadian Commentary

(RTTNews) - Early signals are pointing to a lackluster open Thursday, but stable crude prices might keep investors in a relatively calm mood.

The S&P/TSX Composite Index was up 46.45 points, or 0.38%, to 12,377.77. Stocks have moved up from 3-year lows since last week.

Fertilizer giant Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan Inc. (POT, POT.TO) provided earnings outlook for the first quarter and fiscal 2016 below analysts' estimates.

The company slashed its dividend as earnings fell more than forecast in the previous quarter.

Celestica Inc. (CLS.TO) earnings slipped to $38.9 million in Q4 vs. $40.3 million in the same period last year.

Bombardier (BBD.B.TO) has been sued by Comerica over aircraft payments.

Six of 15 rerailed CP Rail (CP.TO) cars splashed into the Mississippi River in Minnesota, some spilling soybean oil.
