E&S EPX-500 Selected for MiG-29 Trainer

    Aerospace Writers/Business Editors

SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 19, 2005--Evans & Sutherland Computer Corp. (E&S(R)) (Nasdaq: ESCC) announced today that the company has been selected by Rheinmetall Defence Electronics to provide its EPX(TM)-500 visual system for the Indian Navy MiG-29 program. The contract includes a seven-channel out-the-window visual system, an Environment Creation Tool (ECT(TM)) database generation system, and training and support.
The EPX-500 system, equipped with a whole-earth database and three high-resolution insets, will be delivered to Rheinmetall's simulation integration facility in Bremen, Germany, by the end of the year, with on-site installation scheduled for 2006.
"E&S is pleased to continue our long-standing relationship with Rheinmetall," said E&S Sales Vice President David Figgins. "The unequaled database capabilities, hardware scalability and whole-earth model make EPX a great visual system solution to support Rheinmetall's international simulation efforts."

    About Environment Processor Technology

Evans & Sutherland's Environment Processor with military extensions (EPX) is designed to deliver flexibility, responsiveness, and performance for the most demanding military training requirements. EPX software runs on hardware with a range of prices and capabilities, allowing customers to select the right hardware platform for their specific training missions. The unique, layered architecture of the software enhances reliability and allows rapid database creation and update from source materials. Since EPX databases are delivered as source data, the same data can be used in multiple applications and updated incrementally as new source materials become available. In addition, all EPX products are equipped with a 3D whole-earth terrain model and delivered with three high-resolution insets to allow training to begin immediately.

    About EPX-500

EPX-500 runs on E&S' simFUSION(R) value-added PC image generator hardware, which uses a standard PC motherboard in an industrial chassis equipped with highly scalable ATI Radeon(R) graphics processing units. EPX-500 is equipped with all the features of EPX technology, including a number of military simulation capabilities such as sensor effects and shader-based weather effects.
