DGAP-News: Kibaran Resources Limited: Kibaran appoints experienced graphite specialist to Board
Kibaran Resources (ASX: KNL) is pleased to announce that it has appointed highly experienced graphite specialist Christoph Frey as a Non-Executive Director.
Mr Frey, a qualified process engineer, will be based in Germany. He has worked exclusively in the natural graphite industry for the past 23 years, gaining extensive experience in the downstream processing of graphite and in particular battery-grade graphite.
Mr Frey's appointment will allow Kibaran to fast-track its study on the production of battery-grade graphite. This is the next stage in the value- adding chain and involves processing the natural flake concentrate which will be produced at Epanko. Mr Frey's operational experience in graphite will also be invaluable during the construction and commissioning of the Epanko Graphite Project and the production of common graphite grades.
Mr Frey has been a Kibaran consultant since July last year. He was previously engaged by Magnezit Group Europe GmbH (Germany) and served as Project Manager at Dalgraphite Limited in Russia. From 2009 to 2013 he served as Technical Director at Graphit Kropfmuehl AG where he worked inter alia on the Ancuabe graphite mine in Mozambique. From 2007 to 2009 he was General Director of Qingdao Kropfmuehl Graphite Limited based in Qingdao, China.
Mr Frey has been involved with all facets of development and production of natural flake graphite.
Mr Frey also has direct experience in production of battery-grade graphite and has recently been evaluating the use of graphite in high-tech applications, including the production of nanoparticles and nanopowders. This experience will assist Kibaran to progress its downstream, value- adding initiatives, including its battery-related growth strategy.
His expertise includes:
- Supervision of graphite mining and processing
- Managing development of product portfolios from graphite concentrate to higher-value graphite products
- Graphite sales
Kibaran Chairman Robert Pett said: "We are fortunate at Kibaran not only to have some of the highest quality graphite in the world but now to have Christoph Frey on our board. Christoph has enormous experience and expertise in the processing and marketing of flake graphite and a unique understanding of the Graphite Market and the array of products and uses that underpin this market. His vast knowledge of graphite will be invaluable in the key areas of producing quality graphite, the marketing of this graphite and the downstream processing of our product."
