Viscom AG: Viscom AG likely affected by the new ruling of the German Federal Fiscal Court (BFH)



Hanover, 22 January 2016 - The ruling of the German Federal Fiscal Court (BFH) from 13 January 2016 on the taxation of dividend income from securities lending transactions means that Viscom AG (ISIN DE0007846867) will have to recognise provisions for the 2015 financial year.

According to this ruling, dividend income for ongoing tax years generated by a borrower from a securities lending transaction can no longer be deemed tax exempt under certain circumstances. In the past, fiscal authorities had usually treated this income as tax exempt.

Viscom AG - like many other companies - has made use of the securities lending instrument in 2006, meaning that it will likely be affected by the BFH ruling.

The provisions to be recognised are based on the principle of commercial prudence and include possible subsequent tax payments as well as related interest payments. The company estimates that the burden on the Group's net profit for the 2015 financial year from these provisions will amount to approximately EUR 2.5 million. This amount is composed of additional tax expenses of approximately EUR 1.7 million and expected interest expenses for tax of EUR 0.8 million.
