Delta Playing Hardball Over Bombardier Jets

(RTTNews) - Delta Air Lines Inc., on Wednesday made it clear that it will not pay any of the 300 percent tariff that the U.S. Commerce Department has proposed to impose on Canadian-built Bombardier C series planes.

However, the carrier said it still plans to take delivery of the Bombardier planes.

"We're not going to be forced to pay tariffs or anything of the ilk," Delta Chief Executive Ed Bastian said on the carrier's third-quarter earnings call

The U.S. Commerce Department has proposed a 300% tariff duties after Boeing Co. (BA) complained that Bombardier benefited from unfair subsidies from the Canadian government. The proposed duties would not take effect unless affirmed by the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) early next year.
