Critical Path and Cloudmark Partner to Deliver New Messaging Anti-Abuse Solution for Service Providers

The new Memova(TM) Anti-AbuseC-2000 is a turnkey appliance that significantly reduces abuse-relatedcosts, detecting and stopping messaging threats with industry-lowfalse-positive rates -- regardless of the message's language orformat.

Consumer risks are on the rise with the growing prevalence of spamand phishing attacks -- fraudulent messages that contain requests forpersonal data that are often difficult to distinguish from legitimateemail. In addition, according to industry experts, global spam andphishing attacks cost an estimated US $50 billion in increasedresource requirements and higher customer service complaints in 2005,leaving service providers in search of superior and morecost-effective ways to protect their subscribers.

Building upon the success of Memova Anti-Abuse A-1000, CriticalPath's introductory anti-abuse appliance launched in February 2005 andalready deployed by more than 16 service providers, the new MemovaAnti-Abuse C-2000 helps control escalating costs with a combination ofMemova and Cloudmark technology. The appliance uses proprietarytraffic management, throttling and tarpitting techniques, as well asSPF (Sender Policy Framework) and other mechanisms, to stop more than75 percent of abusive traffic at the gateway.
