Celanese Announces Appointments of New General Counsel, Vice President

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 19, 2005--Celanese Corporation (NYSE:CE) announced two key appointments to its senior management team, effective immediately and both located in Dallas.
Curtis S. Shaw was appointed executive vice president, general counsel for the Americas, and corporate secretary.
Shaw joins Celanese from Charter Communications, the nation's third largest cable company, where he has worked since 1997, and most recently served as executive vice president, general counsel and secretary. He has also held senior legal roles at Nynex, Olin, and Occidental Chemical corporations. Early in his career he worked in private practice for Shearman & Sterling and Mudge Rose Guthrie & Alexander. Shaw graduated from Trinity College, where he earned a bachelor's degree with honors in economics. He earned his juris doctorate from Columbia University School of Law.
David A. Loeser was appointed senior vice president, Human Resources and Communications. He has a global background in strategic human resources that includes organization transformation, talent management and compensation. Most recently, Loeser was senior vice president of Human Resources for CompuCom Systems, Inc. and has also held senior leadership positions at PepsiCo, Continental Airlines and Quaker State. He holds a bachelor of science degree in management from the University of South Carolina and an M.B.A. from the University of Toledo.
