Capital Management Group Chair, CEO Shawn D. Baldwin Joins Leaders Discussing China's Economic Future at 2013 Fortune Global Forum

CHICAGO, June 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Shawn D. Baldwin, Chairman and CEO of Capital Management Group, LLC (CMG), was selected as a participant to attend "China's New Future" at the 2013 Fortune Global Forum in Chengdou, China. The invitation-only conference, held June 6-8, drew more than 600 participants, including leading government officials, CEOs and media professionals from around the world and boasted the largest attendance in the forum's 12-year history.

The level of interest acknowledges China's growing role as a global powerhouse, as well as a new era in China's development. World-class leaders gained insight into the trends and forces redefining economic growth in China and engaged in dialogue about the future of global business in general.

"China is an important place due to the sheer size and capacity of its markets," Baldwin said. "As China transitions from a manufacturing- and exports-based economy to a services-focused model, tremendous opportunities will be created. Anyone who is serious about participating in global business will have to be there as it is the second largest economy in the world."

Many of the discussions and panels centered on key topics in China's 12th five-year plan: sustainable development, innovation and technology, global finance and economic recovery. There was also significant discussion surrounding "The China Century"—exploring the challenges China faces and helping global leaders understand how to operate within China's new model.

Other U.S. participants included JPMorgan Chase Chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon; GE Chairman and CEO Jeff Immelt; Intel Corp. President Renee James and DuPont Chair and CEO Ellen Kullman. Baldwin joins these and other Fortune 500 leaders who recognize the potential opportunities offered by China's transformation.

The forum continues a long-held practice of utilizing economic conferences to discuss macroeconomic trends. Baldwin has built a global network of academics and institutional investors that makes him well-positioned to use research and relationships to develop solutions. Baldwin has been a guest expert and contributor on CNBC, CNN and NBC, and also for Forbes and Fast Company magazines.
