Belo Names Smith President and General Manager of KMSB-TV and KTTU-TV in Tucson, Arizona
DALLAS, May 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Belo Corp. announced today that Tod A. Smith has been named president and general manager of KMSB- TV (FOX) and KTTU-TV (UPN) in Tucson, Arizona, effective June 14. He will report to Skip Cass, executive vice president/Media Operations. Smith is currently vice president and media director for Peter A. Mayer Advertising, an advertising agency in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Prior to joining Peter A. Mayer Advertising in January 2005, Smith was the local sales manager at Belo's CBS-affiliated television station in New Orleans, WWL-TV. Smith started his career with WWL in 1980 as a production assistant and was promoted to engineer in 1982 while working toward his college degree. Upon completion of his degree in 1984, Smith joined Shell Oil Company as an analyst in its Houston headquarters and was subsequently a supervisor in the office services group at Shell's Wood River Refinery and the Tulsa, Oklahoma, customer services center. Smith rejoined WWL in 1993 as a marketing executive. In 1995, Smith was named director of research and audience development, and was promoted to local sales manager in 1999. During his time with WWL and Belo, Smith also served as a recruiter for the Company and was a lecturer at Belo's Sales Academy, a training program tailored for newly hired sales executives. Smith was also a participant in Belo's Emerging Talent management development program that identifies and develops high potential managers within the Company, and was an adjunct professor at Tulane University from 2002 to 2005 teaching undergraduate courses in marketing.
Smith holds a BBA degree in management from Loyola University of New Orleans. He is also active in numerous professional and civic organizations and is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the Lighthouse for the Blind in New Orleans and the Advisory Board of the United Negro College Fund, Louisiana Region. He has also served on the Board of Directors for the Louisiana Minority Business Council from 2002 through 2004. Smith has been an active member of the American Marketing Association since 1998.
