Banking Giant Sued Over Alleged Gay Slurs

(RTTNews) - Mourad Raji, a sales analyst at French bank Societe Generale SA, has filed a sexual discrimination lawsuit against his former boss for harassing and ridiculing him for being gay.

According to report in the New York Post, Mourad Raji was repeatedly called a "P.D.," a French word for gay men and was ridiculed by his ex-supervisor Thomas Jacquot for being gay. Raji worked for 18 months as a sales analyst at the French bank's Park Avenue office in Manhattan.

Raji filed the discrimination lawsuit in Manhattan federal court on Wednesday and seeks unspecified monetary damages.

Raji claims that Jacquot used to make fun of him for not having a girlfriend and by asking him whether he was a homo. The suit also claims that Jacquot had a "hostile" attitude towards other employees also "who he perceived as being gay."

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the bank clarified the company's stand regarding sexual discrimination by stating that "it is strongly committed to nondiscrimination and diversity in the workplace wherever we do business."

In a parallel world, UK-based Square Peg Media in partnership with The Telegraph compiled "Out at Work & Telegraph Top 50 LGBT Executives in Business" list, which is a list of executives who are the best LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) individuals in management and executive positions across the country.

Last year, Apple's CEO Tim Cook had openly acknowledged that he was gay.
