Agilent Technologies Wins Design News Best Products 2004 Awards; Agile
Business Editors/High-Tech Editors
PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 5, 2005--Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A) today announced that the Agilent N6700 modular power system and the Agilent 34980A multifunction switch were chosen by Design News readers as award winners in Electronics and Hardware & Software, two of the five categories. The 2004 awards offered a record number of entries from vendors in each category, giving design engineers a wide and challenging selection from which to choose.
"We were overwhelmed by the huge response from readers in selecting the Design News Best Products of the Year for 2004," said Karen Field, chief editor of Design News. "We congratulate Agilent for its N6700 modular power supply and 34980A multifunction switch, and for its engineering creativity and innovativeness in developing these products."
Agilent's N6700 is a low-profile modular power system (MPS) 1U (1-EIA rack unit) high, multiple-output programmable DC power supply system. It gives test system integrators in the aerospace/defense, consumer electronics, computers and peripherals, communications, semiconductor and automotive industries the flexibility to optimize performance, power and price to match test needs.
The Agilent 34980A multifunction switch/measure unit offers the broadest range of core switch/measure functionality as an alternative to VXI and PXI at a price up to 40 percent less than comparable switch and measurement platforms. Engineers building design verification and test systems in the electronics, automotive, aerospace/defense, medical and computer industries will find it has the flexibility to create accurate test systems suited to their needs and budget.
Both products are part of Agilent Open, a program that simplifies test-system setup and integration by offering instruments based on open industry standards. The Agilent Open program has three key components: system-ready instruments, PC-standard I/O and open software. The N6700 and the 34980A are system-ready instruments that come with I/O (such as LAN and USB) and software that automatically configures, interfaces and discovers other instruments regardless of the manufacturer, and verifies instrument connections, reducing test setup time to minutes.
