After-market Movers For Oct 21 (NFLX, VMW, TXN, DFS, SYMM, ILMN, DEPO, OXBT,RIG)

Netflix Inc. (NFLX) gained 10 percent to $391.60. The company's third quarter earnings surged from the prior year period and topped Wall Street view. Revenues for the quarter improved and also came in above the consensus estimate. Netflix added 1.3 million domestic subscribers taking the total number of subscribers to 31.1 million at the end of the September quarter. The company also forecast fourth quarter earnings per share above market view.

VMware, Inc. (VMW) improved 8 percent to $89.40. The company's third quarter profit soared from the year-ago quarter and its adjusted earnings per share came above Street view. Revenues increased 14 percent and matched the consensus estimate.

Symmetricom Inc. (SYMM) surged 50 percent to $7.15 as it agreed to be acquired by Microsemi Corp. (MSCC) for $7.18 per share through a cash tender offer. Symmetricom may solicit superior proposals from third parties for a "go shop" period that extends through November 8, 2013. Microsemi expects significant synergies from this immediately accretive transaction.

Illumina Inc. (ILMN) rose more than 6 percent to $87.10. The company's third quarter results were above Wall Street view. The company also raised its fiscal 2013 forecast.

DepoMed Inc. (DEPO) gained 10 percent to $8.00. The company announced the sale of its interests in royalty and milestone payments under license agreements in the Type 2 diabetes therapeutic area to PDL BioPharma, Inc. (PDLI) for $240.5 million.

Oxygen Biotherapeutics, Inc., (OXBT) surged 46 percent to $2.05. The company agreed to acquire certain assets of privately-held Phyxius Pharma and will get the exclusive rights to develop and commercialize levosimendan in North America. Upon closing of the transaction, Phyxius Pharma Co-Founder and CEO, John Kelley is to become CEO of Oxygen Biotherapeutics.

Transocean Ltd. (RIG) gained over 3 percent to $48.33 based on the news that it will join the S&P 500 index. Transocean will replace Dell Inc. (DELL) after the close of trading on October 28.

Decliners:

Texas Instruments Inc. (TXN) fell 3 percent to $39.70. The company's third quarter profit declined 20 percent from the previous year period. Revenues dropped 4 percent. The company guided fourth quarter results below analysts' expectations.

Discover Financial Services (DFS) declined 2 percent to $52.50 as its third quarter results missed Wall Street view.
