3G Capital Considers Possibility Of Acquiring Food Or Beverage Companies :report
(RTTNews) - Brazilian investment firm 3G Capital Partners LP is considering the possibility of acquiring food or beverage companies, including Campbell Soup Co. (CPB) and PepsiCo Inc. (PEP), the Wall Street Journal reported citing people familiar with the matter.
In the past several weeks, investors have pledged about $5 billion to a new takeover fund being formed by 3G, the report said.
People close to 3G caution that no decisions have been made. 3G often studies targets for years before making a move.
And because a PepsiCo deal could be four times as large as Heinz and Tim Hortons combined, 3G might pursue only pieces of PepsiCo or try to join forces with Anheuser-Busch InBev NV(BUD).
3G reportedly has received pledges from investors totaling $5 billion over the past few weeks for a new takeover fund, though no decision has been made as to the next acquisition move.
