2014 Subaru Forester Among the Safest Crossover SUVs Available

TOPEKA, Kan., Aug. 30, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- With the speeds that Subaru rally cars are capable of traveling, safety is a major concern for the manufacturer, and although the 2014 Subaru Forester isn't ever going to hit the same speeds, the crossover SUV is just as safe. Consumers have been excited about the newest available safety feature in the 2014 Forester, Subaru's EyeSight technology. The technology runs off the feed of two cameras located on the sides of the rear view mirror. The cameras provide the driver with an added layer of safety with what is basically an extra set of eyes on the road. Although the technology does not make the vehicle autonomous, it is capable of performing a number of tasks on its own.

Pre-collision braking and throttle management work by detecting and monitoring the vehicles ahead of the car and applying brake pressure or reducing acceleration when needed in order to avoid a collision. The system alerts the driver with both audible and visual signals, but acts on its own when the driver is too late to make a reaction.

Adaptive cruise control is about as close as the 2014 Subaru Forester comes to driving itself. The driver can program a set speed and the car will do the rest. If the car ahead slows to a stop, EyeSight recognizes that and brings the vehicle to a stop as well. To get the vehicle moving again, the driver simply has to hit the acceleration switch on the steering wheel and the vehicle goes back to the set speed. All the driver has to do is steer. EyeSight is a great example of how Subaru is constantly working to make their vehicles safer and make driving more convenient for their customers.
