James City (County of) VA -- Moody's: James City County, VA makes late debt service payment due to administrative error; no impact on rating

New York, January 12, 2015 -- On Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, James City County, VA (Aa1 positive) was delinquent in making principal and interest payments on its General Obligation School Refunding Bonds, Series 2014. According to county management, the mistake was due to an administrative oversight. Upon realizing the error, the county made the full debt service payment on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014. Moody's believes the payment delay was due to an administrative error, not an impairment of the county's ability to pay.
