AUSTIN, Texas (Oct. 28, 2021) – Texas restaurants have been on a rollercoaster as they fight to rebuild from the economic devastation created by COVID-19. After an encouraging spring, many restaurants experienced a perfect storm of drastic food cost increases, labor shortages, and canceled plans stemming from the Delta variant. As a result, 75% of Texas operators recently reported that their restaurant is less profitable now than it was three months ago.
While these challenges persist, the holiday season and innovative policy proposals are creating opportunities for restaurants across the state. Join the Texas Restaurant Association (TRA) for a press event to discuss these challenges and opportunities and hear from operators firsthand why it's critical that the public and our policymakers continue to champion local restaurant recovery.
