John-Paul Surdo named new president of Bystronic Region Americas

  • Region Americas president Robert St. Aubin will retire at the end of 2023
  • John-Paul Surdo begins as his successor on June 26, 2023
  • Surdo assumes the position as president on October 1, 2023

Zürich/Hoffman Estates, IL (USA), June 26, 2023 Robert St. Aubin, long-time president of Region Americas will retire at the end of the year. He will be succeeded by John-Paul Surdo.

John-Paul Surdo is a well-established leader of organizations active in global growth markets and has many years of experience successfully implementing strategy and plans resulting in increased sales and profits. In his new position, he will report to Bystronic CEO Alex Waser and will serve as a member of the Executive Committee.

We are pleased that John-Paul will be joining us as the leader of our Region Americas. Under his leadership we will advance our growth strategy in these important markets, said Alex Waser. We especially want to thank Bob St. Aubin for his many years of service and the expansion of our business in the Americas, and we wish him all the best in his retirement. 

Prior to joining Bystronic, John-Paul Surdo worked in multiple functions at NCH Corporation, a leading global marketer of industrial maintenance products in London and has more than 15 years of experience in sales, marketing and management. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Wisconsin (USA).

Robert St. Aubin has served as managing director of Bystronic Inc. in the United States since September 2010. He has been responsible for the Market Region Americas since January 2013. In this position he established sales and service operations in the USA, Brazil, Canada and Mexico, and expanded production operations in North and South America. He has been a member of Bystronics Executive Committee since 2021 and has been responsible for advancing Bystronics strategy in the Americas.
